  • Religious Trauma

    Cherish’s clinical niche is in religious trauma or trauma from high-control religions. She completed doctoral-level work on religious studies and has taught university courses on world religions, as well as having a personal history with a high-control religious environment. She is in the process of developing an introductory course on treating religious trauma and how to use Brainspotting with this population, and she is developing a consultation group for those working with religious trauma cases.

  • Brainspotting

    Cherish is an approved Brainspotting consultant. She can provide consultation for any practitioner seeking certification or re-certification. She can also provide general consultation to Brainspotting practitioners. Her specialties for Brainspotting consultation are religious trauma, adoption and family separation, family estrangement, complex trauma, and expansion.

  • Adoption/Former Foster Youth

    Cherish has been working in adoption education and advocacy for over 10 years. She has a history in creating educational curriculum for adoptive parents, and she has advocated for adoptee rights with the federal government and with the United Nations. Cherish regularly assists at adoption competency training, working to help adoption professionals provide high-quality care to adoptees, first parents, and adoptive parents. She provides consultation on issues including diagnostics, adoption competence, adoption trauma, intercountry adoption, transracial adoption, and adoptee sexuality and relationships.
